How Do I Request a Guardian ad Litem?

Under Florida law, either parent in a family law proceeding can file a motion for appointment of Guardian ad Litem. Once appointed by the Judge, a GAL is a party to court proceedings that affect the child. The GAL generally must submit a written report containing recommendations to the court within 20 days prior to the hearing at which it will be presented to the Court. The GAL is able to make oral or written recommendations directly to the court.
